Southeastern Capital Corporation
Formed in 1976 by Charles V. Welden, Jr., Peter W. Field and W. Edgar Welden as a property development company, a mortgage banking firm and a property management operation. Serves as developer, general partner and asset manager, having been involved in over $30 million of projects. Originated over $100 million of project financing.
Highland Mortgage Company
Formed in 1979 to assume the mortgage banking activities of Southeastern Capital Corporation. Has since financed over $4 billion of multifamily loans throughout the country. Utilizing HUD-FHA mortgage insurance, Highland Mortgage Company is an approved GNMA Issuer and currently services a mortgage loan portfolio exceeding $1.5 billion with annual production exceeding $400 million. Main office in Birmingham, Alabama with regional offices in North Carolina and Virginia. Welden Field sold Highland Mortgage Company to GMAC in 2005.

SPM, Inc. and its affiliated companies are recognized leaders in their field, now managing over 15,000 multifamily homes and condominiums located throughout the country. Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, SPM has regional offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; Bradenton, Florida; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Hotel Development and Operations
Southern Hospitality Services, LLC is the Hotel development, acquisition and operating division of the Welden Field group.
Redeveloped and managed a 162 room full service hotel in Birmingham, Alabama; developed and managed an 80 room Sleep Inn in Pelham, Alabama; a 99 room Microtel Inn in Sulphur, Louisiana; an 84 room Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites in Sulphur, Louisiana; an 86 room Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites in Florence, South Carolina, a 67 room Best Western Hotel and Suites in Sulphur, Louisiana, a 78 room Sleep Inn and Suites in Port Charlotte, Florida and a 150 room Hyatt Place in Birmingham, Alabama. SHS has also managed the operations of a 137 room Best Western in Birmingham, Alabama, a 77 room Sleep Inn in Destin, Florida, a 120 Room Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites in Houston, Texas and a 32 room full service boutique hotel in Iasi, Romania.
Development Operations
Through various development entities, the Welden Field group has developed more than 4,000 multifamily homes and hotel rooms, nearly 2,000 active adult homes in 18 communities, land developments ranging from 4 acres to 1,200 acres, several single family developments and has owned other income producing properties including retail centers and office buildings.
